Rockport-Fulton ISD is committed to providing equitable access to high-quality college and career pathways throught the Pirate P-TECH Academy, which include the Nursing Science and Welding programs of study. Admission to the Pirate P-TECH Academy is open to all incoming 9th-grade RFISD students who demonstrate interest and commitment to completing a four-year early college and workforce-aligned program.
Eligibility
- All RFISD students promoted to the 9th grade are eligible to apply for admission to the Pirate P-TECH Academy.
- Students selected for the program will have opportunities to enroll in dual credit courses associated with their P-TECH pathway beginning in the 9th grade and continuing through graduation.
- No prior academic performance, test scores, discipline history, or teacher recommendations will be used to exclude a student from consideration, consistent with TEA P-TECH blueprint access requirements.
Application Process
Student interested in joining the Nursing Science or Welding P-TECH pathways must complete the following steps:
- Meet with their school counselor during course selection to review graduation plans, pathway requirements, long-term goals, select courses, and get a P-TECH application form.
- Submit the Pirate P-TECH Academy Application Form that is signed by both the student and the student's parent or guardian. The application is linked here.
- Attend student and parent informational meetings. These sessions will include overview of the college coursework, credential and certification opportunities, internships, safety expectations, and students supports.
- Sign the Pirate P-TECH Safety contract for the program of study they join and the P-TECH dual credit contract.
Selection and Enrollment
- When applications exceed available seats, students will be admitted through a blind, equitable lottery system.
- Students accepted into the Pirate P-TECH Academy will receive notification and have the course added to their schedule by their counselor.

All students have the opportunity to enroll in P-TECH courses along with the more traditional academic courses. Safety is an important part of elective coursework and must be demonstrated before students are allowed to work.
