Christy Ilfrey

Welcome, Scholars and Families!

 

My name is Christy Ilfrey, and I teach Honors English II and English III. I also serve as the English Department Lead. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in English at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi. I previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas State University and an Associate of Arts from Collin College.

 

My teaching experience includes developmental writing and GED preparation courses at Collin College and Del Mar College. I also had the privilege of homeschooling my daughter, Sage. Words are my passion, and I look forward to helping our scholars strengthen their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while developing confidence in their own voices.

 

My teaching philosophy is rooted in botanical pedagogy—the belief that meaningful learning, like a garden, flourishes through intentional planting, patient cultivation, thoughtful pruning, and joyful harvesting. I also sponsor the Healthy Living Club, which meets during SAIL on Wednesdays.
