About AP World History

AP World History: Modern is a rigorous, college-level survey course. It has three main objectives. First, to develop analysis and thinking skills in order to be successful twenty-first century scholars. Second, to prepare students for higher-level college history courses. Lastly, to make learning world history an enjoyable experience. Students can show mastery of the course content and earn potential college credit by taking the College Board AP World History: Modern Exam in May.

As this is a college-level course, students should expect to complete homework several times per week. Homework will usually consist of reading and notetaking from our companion text, AMSCO Advanced Placement World History: Modern (1200- Present). Students will have access to a PDF of this text on Google Classroom, but are welcome to purchase a hard copy if they wish from Amazon.

Additionally, all students will be expected to take the exam on May 8th, 2025

Required Supplies:

Students will be required to have a 1.5 or 2 in 3 ring binder with 10 dividers. We will maintain all work, study materials, and writing practice in this binder throughout the year so that students have materials to study as the exam approaches. Students will also need their Chromebook, pencils/ blue or black ink pens. They are also welcome to have their own highlighters, colored pencils, or markers.
