Math takes practice. You don't have to get every answer right the first time—you do have to be willing to try.

Meet your teacher

I'm Robert Young, and I teach Algebra 2 at Rockport-Fulton High School. My classroom is a place to build math skills and the habits that help you beyond school: asking questions, following through, and learning from mistakes.

Effort over perfection

Mistakes are part of learning. I often compare learning math to a toddler learning to walk: the stumbles don't mean you can't do it. They're part of getting there.

I value students who keep working toward a goal. Ask when you're stuck, use the resources available, and give yourself another attempt.

Beyond the classroom

Outside school, I write fiction and develop games. Both involve trying ideas, solving problems, and sticking with something until it works.

I'm also a husband and a father of three—two daughters and a son. My family, including my wonderfully supportive wife, is a big part of who I am.
