Salutations, and thank you for visiting! My name is Michelle Christner, and I am honored to serve as the Director of Choirs for the Rockport-Fulton Choir Department. As I embark on my 21st year as a music educator, I am excited to continue my journey into my second year with RFISD and the incredible community we have here.
I hold dual Bachelor of Music degrees in Vocal and Instrumental Music Education from Texas A&M University at Kingsville. During my time at the university, I had the extraordinary opportunity to perform alongside legendary artists such as Louie Bellson, Arturo Sandoval, Marvin Stamm, Peter Erskine, and even the iconic rock group, Heart! A highlight of my career was performing at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Dennis Richardson with the Master’s Chorus of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Currently, I am deeply involved in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), serving Region 14 as the Region Secretary and Vice Chair of the Vocal Division. I am also thrilled to have been selected as the TMEA All-State Small School Choir Tenor Section Leader for the upcoming TMEA Convention in February 2025.
I am truly honored to work here in Rockport, Texas, and I cherish every moment with our students. My goal is to rebuild the historic Rockport-Fulton Choir program, and I am incredibly proud of the success we achieved during my first year back in this talented district. The harvest is plentiful, and the laborers are few, but with the support of my students, parents, colleagues, and community, I believe we will make our choir program fabulous again!
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling, fishing, hunting, barbecuing, and competing in Cowboy Action Shooting events. I also love being part of the First Baptist Rockport Choir. I reside in Fulton, Texas, with my dear mother and my two beloved cats, Giulia and Bella.
